This is what pineapple tastes like before it's tinned, syruped and shipped halfway round the world in a can. Single Variety Co. sources Golden Pineapple fresh from Costa Rica, the world's largest grower, where the fruit ripens to a natural golden peak with barely any of the sharpness you'd expect.
The whole pineapples are chopped by hand in the brand's Bristol factory and jammed the same day, with just a touch of lemon juice to lift the flavour. Nothing else goes in. It's a soft-set preserve, intensely tropical, closer to fresh fruit than anything that's ever come out of a tin.
