Small changes to your routine can add up to make a big difference. From meal planning to wearing fabulous reusable nails to saying 'no' more: here we share the life resets our team and collective have made that both lower our impact and put a spring in our step
“I have a bloody cold shower for 30 seconds each morning! I feel like I need to scream ‘I’M ALIVE!’ every time because it is so damn true.”
Milo Pinckney, founder and chief of experience at Rollr, as found in our Luxury Bathroom Reset Box
“I've been embracing second-hand fashion through Vinted, discovering the joy of both selling and buying pre-loved pieces. I love giving my unwanted clothes a second life, while finding unique preloved items for special occasions. Breaking free from the constant pursuit of newness has been transformative. Finding contentment in preloved items has brought a fresh perspective on consumption.”
Harriet Murphy, founder of Hotel, Mike, as found in our Luxury Bathroom Reset Box
“Method products: deliberately NOT eco or earthy looking – and have been pioneers in the ‘cool to be sustainable’ space for years. And Nudie Jeans: organic, fair trade cotton, repairs for life, trade-in scheme – nothing not to like.”
Tom Berry, sustainability advisor at BRiMM
"Cycling to work. It’s short, but clears my head and feels like a quiet protest against traffic. And I’ve definitely found joy from sowing my own herb seeds recently, watching them become seedlings ready to plant out in a few weeks’ time. I have a tiny (but much-loved) garden and in the past have focused on growing things that are beautiful, but not edible. Even in a small space, there's something so fulfilling about seeing food grow right at your doorstep and knowing you're part of a more sustainable system. It’s a reminder that every small change counts.”
Renée Williams, co-founder of Dabba Drop
“I just invested in a modibodi period swimming costume, no more tampons and a very chic swimming costume that means less waste and more fun!”
Danielle Clementina Close, founder of My Skin Feels. Check out My Skin Feels Moisturised in our Minimalist Bathroom Reset Box
“Read The Source by Tara Swart – it’s a breakdown of the neuroscience behind visualisation and manifestation and has several really surprisingly effective methodologies for planning and manifesting a life of abundance. It's whole-brain thinking, teaching you how to use your gut, emotional intelligence and spirituality, not just your logical mind.”
Tiffanie Darke, activist and BRiMM editorial and community advisor
“This year has been an incredible one for resetting. I'm not sure if it's an age thing or just part of the journey, but I’ve made a few low-impact changes that have really grounded me:
“And it’s meditation that has brought me the most joy: what started as just a few quiet minutes each day has become a non-negotiable ritual, filling my mornings and evenings with presence and calm. It helps me slow down, breathe deeper and notice more. Over time, it’s shifted how I respond to stress, how I listen and even how I talk to myself. It's not about perfection, just about showing up, again and again.”
Karen Prado, co-founder of Chimi Love, the authentic South American fusion sauces that can be found in our Pantry Essentials Reset Box
“I bought a Hotbin composter – the aim is to get rich, organic compost in just a month. The plan is to use it on the allotment. Let’s see how it goes!”
Dan Bell, BRiMM marketing consultant
“My six-step morning routine:
1 - get out of bed immediately with alarm
2 - make bed (so you can’t get back in)
3 - high five yourself in the mirror
4 - clean your teeth
5 - drink glass of water
6 - go for a walk (five mins in daylight, 10 in darkness, 20 mins in rain).
I can elaborate on the benefits of each, but Mel Robbins – from whom I was inspired to make this change – explains it so much better in her podcast episode.”
Anna Foster, founder of E.L.V. Denim, BRiMM founder member and partner in our first ever BRiMM event
“Juicing and then using the leftover pulp to bake carrot banana loaf or crackers. And wild swimming in the river!”
Vanessa Marx, head chef – Bingham Riverhouse, Richmond
“My sister recently bought me the Willowberry Nutrient Boost Face Oil: it is so good and smells amazing. Also, can I be biased and pick my own products?! My (HELEN KIRKUM) Palimpsest sneakers in Fig & Silver have bought me the most joy. I love them and always get so many compliments. The joy of wearing a shoe you designed and made will never be lost on me!”
Helen Kirkhum, creative director and community and events lead at BRiMM
“I've really got into meal planning: properly reading cook books and checking the fridge and cupboards before I go shopping. Planning means we eat more healthily and mindfully – I even add leftovers to the lunch section of our fridge meal planner so we don't resort to buying a processed sandwich – which also reduces food waste.
"I'm also taking more time to enjoy forgotten hobbies because having a little time to do something just for me is great for my mental wellbeing. I used to play bass guitar in a couple of bands, so this month I'm sitting down with my Fender for half an hour a day. I haven't changed the strings in 30 years of playing it, which I'm viewing as a planet-positive win! (And they sound better for it, too).
"Lastly, when we moved to our new house a few years ago it didn't have a tumble dryer and we never got one. Instead, I use a heated airer and dehumidifier combo – I find it uses less energy than a tumble dryer (but that obviously depends on your household), and the distilled water I collect from the dehumidifier is better for my house plants, too. Not only that, tumble dryers put stress on your clothes, so it helps to make my wardrobe last longer as well.”
Hannah Rochelle, founder of Slowette and BRiMM newsletter writer
“Being married and working together is hard, because work is all consuming. So we made a little change to our routine – now we make sure we walk the dog at least a couple of mornings a week, with no distractions and try our hardest not to talk about work. Sometimes that means telling each other to ‘STOP’ mid-sentence but mostly it means actual connection. Some weeks this is the only time we truly get to be – and actually ‘be’ – together, so it has become hugely valuable.”
Imogen Royall, co-founder of Northern Pasta Co., as seen in our Pantry Essentials Reset Box
“Recently I have seen my Money Plant grow beautifully, so I decided to propagate (aka trim a section and replant it) to make a second plant at no extra cost and it's also been growing so nicely! I found some nice tips on how to get started with propagation on Canopy and Stars. Secondly, I have recently been loving stick-on nail polish brands. I recently read that gel polish is now banned in the EU, so Loste and Glaize are great alternatives for a quick fix – and they’re also reusable!”
Sam Zimmerman, Head of Beauty at BRiMM
“My latest low-impact life reset is a simple daily ritual: a few deep breaths with my energising aromatherapy blend, followed by a quick gua sha massage using one of Evolve’s facial oils and a moment of stillness. It’s a small act of self-connection that grounds me before the day begins. It’s low-waste, and it brings me so much joy and helps me get ready for a busy day ahead.”
Laura Rudoe, founder of Evolve skincare brand, included in our Luxury Bathroom Reset Box
“Relocating to the countryside has been transformative. In London, nature felt like something I had to chase – a weekend escape. Now, it’s part of my every day. That shift from disconnection to belonging has been grounding in a way that feels deeply healing. Nature always brings me back to balance, no matter my state of mind. And now I get to share that with my daughter, Eliza. Teaching her to love and protect the natural world feels like planting seeds for a more harmonious future. Children are born with that connection – our job is simply to help them hold onto it.”
Lisa Oxenham, ex beauty and style director Marie Claire, BRiMM founder member
“Batch cooking rice and legumes brings me joy. And Aeropress + local beans = joy in a cup. Low waste, high reward.”
Dr Johnny Drain, a chef with a PhD on a quest to reveal the secret science of flavour and sustainability
“I’m a skincare addict, so really committing to refillable beauty – for example IRÄYE and Noble Panacea are skincare brands that do this very well, without compromising on luxury. I’ve also tried to cut down on Ubers and taxis when I can – and master the art of the power walk (sometimes in heels!).”
Isabella Charlotta Poppius, creative, One Tree Planted ambassador and model
“Saying no to things! It’s fine to not always be available on other people’s schedules, both socially and in work, and it’s fine to prioritise your own life. Obviously it’s a balancing act and you won’t want to say no to everything, but it’s quite empowering to protect your own boundaries and routine, and not let it be dictated by others. Plus getting up early and doing some stretches (due to a bad back), leaving the window open a bit and listening to the wind in the trees or the birds outside.”
Chris Torpey, co-founder of music venue Future Yard in Birkenhead, Merseyside – a regional hub for artist development that has pledged to become the first carbon-neutral grassroots music venue in the north of England
