About this product
Das Almas is a farm in the Cabo Verde region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, managed by Adriano Muniz and his sons Thiago and Matheus. The family has been growing coffee here since 1942. Origin first sourced from them 15 years ago and has returned every year since.
The cup is bold and full-flavoured: chocolate and caramel at the base, naturally sweet with mellow acidity. 37% of the farm is native preservation land. The Muniz family run the farm on biogas and solar energy. A section of native preserve on the farm is dedicated to Origin in recognition of the partnership.
Whole bean, 250g. Roasted in small batches at Origin's Porthleven roastery using Loring Smart Roasters, which use 80% less energy than standard roasting equipment.

Why it's BRiMM
Why it's BRiMM
Origin has bought coffee from the Muniz family at Fazenda Das Almas every year for 15 years. That's their longest-standing producer relationship, and the coffee reflects it. Das Almas is now a permanent fixture in Origin's Mainstay line, bold filter category. Part of this year's contracted coffee was shipped to the UK by sailboat, reducing the carbon footprint of the crossing significantly. B Corp certified, 95.6. Europe's Best Speciality Coffee Roaster 2023 and 2024.
